![]() The Mission Impossible parody is a great example of satirizing the current of anti-Bush hysteria being pushed by the mainstream media at the time. One of the other funniest jokes was Mr Tumnus's Faun Crib, even as somebody who wasn't aware of the existence of MTV's Cribs, the joke still works because of the absurdity of Mr Tumnus having a pimped out home full of flatscreen TVs, champagne and hot girls in a hot tub in what was meant to be a small, cozy, rustic house from a childrens fantasy book written in the 1940s. The Chocolate river scene had me rolling, taking a common misconception about the river in the original 1971 film and taking it to it's "log"ical extreme Plus, he pulls some sick dance moves.Īdam Campbell serves as a great foil to Kal Penn's character with his supportive and thoughtful personality, but his cowardice, represented by the chicken wings on his back, often serves as a fatal flaw which he eventually sheds (or rips off). Kal Penn, the most experienced of the main four actors, gives a great performance as Edward, kind of an abrasive asshole that eventually learns not to act upon impulse.Ĭrispin Glover's entire performance as Willy, he takes on Depp's performance, and adds a demented sense of glee to it, you could also tell that he took elements of Gene Wilder's Wonka and also President Bush's mannerisms, as well as adding the demeanor of a serial killer. This gives it a sense that it could come out of the original films makes the comedy funnier. The sets are very well done, they almost exactly match those of the Chronicles of Narnia, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the Da Vinci Code etc. Today, I do understand that a lot of people have a problem with the over-reliance on references to as many 2006 movies as possible, but in my opinion, the hatred is still massively overblown, so here are a lot of my reasons as to why Epic Movie was actually really good, or at least decent: I still do enjoy this movie, despite these reviews implying that anyone who unironically finds it remotely funny is basically a brain-dead moron. When I first watched this film when was a young boy, no older than 8 years old, I loved it, I thought it was the funniest movie I ever watched, so when I got older and looked up the film on IMDB, I was really confused as to why the reviews were not only overwhelmingly negative, but viciously negative, I could feel the extreme fury emanating from the words I was reading.
